Champions for Children - State of the World's Mothers 2011

In occasione della Festa della Mamma, Save the Children pubblica il dodicesimo rapporto annuale sullo stato delle madri nel mondo, che mostra dove le madri vivono meglio e peggio. Il rapporto presenta saggi di personalità di spicco che sostengono il motivo per cui i governi dovrebbero continuare a investire in programmi di salute materna e infantile. Milioni di bambini sono vivi oggi grazie agli investimenti effettuati in passato in programmi salvavita. Ma il lavoro non è finito. Ogni giorno, 22.000 bambini muoiono ancora, per lo più per cause prevenibili o curabili. Mentre molti Paesi stanno facendo progressi, altri hanno ancora bisogno di supporto. Il rapporto identifica i Paesi in ritardo nella corsa per salvare vite umane. Dimostra inoltre che soluzioni efficaci a questa sfida sono accessibili, anche nei Paesi più poveri del mondo.

In commemoration of Mother’s Day, Save the Children is publishing its twelfth annual State of the World’s Mothers report, which demonstrates where mothers fare best and worst. The report features essays from prominent individuals making the case for why governments should continue to invest in maternal and child health programs. Millions of children are alive today because of past investments in lifesaving programmes. But the work is not done. Each day, 22,000 children still perish, mostly from preventable or treatable causes. While many countries are making progress, many still need help. This report identifies countries that are lagging behind in the race to save lives. It also shows that effective solutions to this challenge are affordable – even in the world’s poorest countries.
