Saving the Lives of Mothers and Newborns - State of the World's Mothers 2006

In occasione della Festa della Mamma, Save the Children pubblica il suo settimo rapporto annuale sullo stato delle madri nel mondo.  Concentrandosi sui 60 milioni di madri nei paesi in via di sviluppo che partoriscono ogni anno senza supporto professionale e sui 4 milioni di neonati che muoiono nel primo mese di vita, questo rapporto pone l'attenzione sull'urgente necessità di ridurre la mortalità infantile in tutto il mondo. Il rapporto identifica anche i paesi che stanno riuscendo a migliorare la salute e a salvare la vita di madri e bambini, e mostra che soluzioni efficaci a questa sfida sono alla portata di tutti, anche tra i paesi più poveri del mondo.

In commemoration of Mother's Day, Save the Children is publishing its seventh annual State of the World's Mothers report. By focusing on the 60 million mothers in the developing world who give birth every year with no professional help and the 4 million newborns who die in the first month of life, this report helps to bring attention to the urgent need to reduce infanti mortality around the world. The report also identifies countries that are succeeding in improving the health and saving the lives of mothers and babies, and shows  that effective solutions to this challenge are affordable - even in the world's poorest countries.
