Bambine senza parola. Il diritto all'educazione per le bambine nei paesi in guerra

Il rapporto esamina le questioni di genere nei Paesi in conflitto o post conflitto. La violenza di genere viene spesso usata come arma di guerra: donne e bambine sono le principali vittime durante e dopo i conflitti, in casa propria, nella loro comunità e spesso nei luoghi dove credono di essere al sicuro (campi profughi o paesi ospitanti). I conflitti, nelle loro diverse fasi, colpiscono soprattutto le fasce più deboli della popolazione civile, ovvero donne, minori, anziani e disabili. A causa della guerra negli ultimi dieci anni, ben 10 milioni di bambini sono stati uccisi, 6 milioni sono stati gravemente feriti, altri 20 milioni sono stati costretti a scappare dalle loro case, più di 250.000 - di cui quasi la metà bambine - sono stati arruolati negli eserciti come soldati, e 39 milioni non hanno accesso alla scuola. Le donne e le bambine presentano una particolare vulnerabilità in tempo di guerra, in considerazione del loro ruolo nella società, della discriminazione di genere nei loro confronti e delle violenze che ne conseguono.

The report examines gender issues in conflict-affected and post-conflict countries. Gender-based violence is often used as a weapon of war: women and girls are the main victims during and after conflicts, in their own homes, in their communities and often in places where they believe they are safe (refugee camps or host countries). Conflicts, in their various phases, mainly affect the weakest sections of the civilian population, i.e. women, children, the elderly and the disabled. As a result of the war over the past decade, as many as 10 million children have been killed, 6 million have been seriously injured, another 20 million have been forced to flee their homes, more than 250,000 - almost half of them girls - have been drafted into the army as soldiers, and 39 million have no access to school. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable in times of war, given their role in society, gender discrimination against them and the violence that follows.
